Bangou Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Luotuobogou, Xishan (Mt.), Taiyuan, Shanxi. It was named by Liu Hongyun et al. in 1959.

Lithology and Thickness
Claystone and Limestone. Consisting of interbeds of limestone, sandstone, shale and coal seams. The Lower part is generally composed of black shale, intercalated with a layer of medium−coarse-grained quartzose sandstone. The Upper part contains more limestone interbeds of uncertain number, mostly lenticular. The coal seams are thin and unstable, being 1.7 m thick occasionally. The formation is about 17 m thick in the Xishan Mt. area, and 7−40 m thick in Lüliang Mt.

Lower contact
Continuous sedimentation with the underlying Fe-Al-rich (ferralite) member

Disconformable contact with the overlying Jinci Fm => same subcolumn of 29?

Fossils
In Jiuzigou (gully) of Jinci, the formation contains Conodonts Idiognathodus sinuosus, Streptognathodus parvus, etc.; Fusulinids Fusulina cf. pulchella, F. pseudokonnoi, Taitzehoella taitzehoensis, Pseudostaffella phaeroidea, etc.; Plants Neuropteris giganea, Linopteris neuropteroides, etc.
